Reince Priebus Sounds Off To Giordano About Pres. Obama's State Of The Union Speech

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Dom Giordano talked with Reince Priebus, the Chairman of the Republican National Committee, on Wednesday to gauge his reaction to President Obama's State of the Union Address.

Priebus focused on the President's pledge to address income inequality, saying, "Obama's record on income inequality is about the worst of any President in modern history. The rich are richer, the poor are poorer, we've had a 50% increase in food stamps under his Presidency."

He also added that the President "called debt unpatriotic under President Bush then doubled the same debt."

"[President Obama] opened up saying that unemployment is at its lowest rate in five years. Every person…understands that is totally a lie; it's a slight of hand, and it's not honest," Priebus said, criticizing the President's handling of the economy.

When discussing the ongoing fight over the Affordable Care Act, Priebus said, "Obamacare was specifically and intentionally designed to screw over young people, and they know it…You don't hear the media talking about the fact that we have a youth revolution going on in our party thanks to Obamacare, but it's true."

Giordano also asked Priebus to critique the performance of Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, who delivered the Republican response to the President.

Priebus said her performance was "one of the most favorable responses we've had in years. It was smart and on point."

Finally, Priebus told Giordano he sees too many Republicans focusing on the negative.

"I think, as a party, we a lot spend a lot of time talking about where we're weak and how to get better, which we have to do, but we also forget about the fact that there's fruit right above our head, and we have to also go where we're strong to be stronger."
