RECAP: Flyers Lose To Dallas Stars, 3-1
DALLAS (AP) -- Antoine Roussel scored the tiebreaking goal late in the second period, leading the Dallas Stars to a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday night.
Roussel, whose five goals all have come at home, pulled the puck out of a pileup in front and sent a wrist shot past Flyers goalie Michal Neuvirth with 2:32 to go in the second.
Mattias Janmark had tied the scored at 1-1 for Dallas with 5:54 remaining in the second. Jamie Benn added his NHL-leading 20th goal into an empty net with 53 seconds remaining, and Antti Niemi finished with 19 saves.
Shayne Gostisbehere scored his fourth power-play goal in 16 career games for Philadelphia at 9:23 of the second. Neuvirth had 41 saves.
The Stars have won six of seven at home and improved to 5-0-2 in their last seven games overall.
Philadelphia, which came in having won four straight on the road, applied early pressure. Niemi stopped the Flyers' best chance when he was down on the ice but got up in time to stop Michael Del Zotto's shot from the blue line.
The last third of the first period was in Philadelphia's defensive zone. Tyler Seguin put five shots on Neuvirth, including two slap shots on which the goalie made sprawling glove saves.
The Flyers also killed two penalties in the last 6:33 of the first. It ended with Dallas leading in shots on goal 18-9.
Gostisbehere scored the first goal on the power play at 9:23 of the second. He took a pass from Claude Giroux just inside the blue line and sent a slap shot inside the right goal post. It was the rookie's fourth power-play goal in only 14 NHL games.
Another rookie, Janmark, tied the game on the Stars' 27th shot. Jason Spezza passed from behind the net to Janmark in the left faceoff circle. His shot deflected off Philadelphia's Wayne Simmonds and past Neuvirth.
Just 3:22 later, Roussel took the rebound of a shot by Cody Eakin and wristed a shot through a pileup to give Dallas a 2-1 lead.
The Stars outshot the Flyers 16-5 in the second.
