Pre Game Playlist: Hip Hop Gets Pro-Golfer Gary Woodland Ready To Compete
Like many athletes, professional golfer Gary Woodland has a set playlist for every situation he finds himself in, whether it be on the golf course or not.
For example, when Gary Woodland is walking to the first tee on the golf course, it’s hip-hop that gets his mind ready to compete, notably artists like Pitbull, T.I. and Tupac. His favorite artist of all time is Garth Brooks, noting songs like Rodeo and Unanswered Prayers as a couple of his songs that he turns to for motivation.
But Woodland has a love for all music overall.
“I think music is a correlation with everything,” Woodland said. “I think for whatever mood you’re in—whether it’s slow, whether it’s country. You want to listen to hip-hop to get a little more motivated, whatever it is you can put music in any situation.”
Woodland says his love for music stems from his father’s passion for music when he was a child. Woodland listens to artists like Elvis because his dad was a big fan.
But if Woodland had to pick one song that defines him the most…Firework by Katy Perry, for he views himself as sort of a firework when he is on the golf course, ready to explode.
