Positively Philadelphia: East Passyunk Car Show and Street Fest

By Lauren Lipton

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The East Passyunk Car Show and Street Festival is coming up on Sunday, July 27th, from 12 noon to 5pm.

"We have over 140 show cars, lining five blocks of East Passyunk Avenue," notes Renee Gilinger, executive director of the East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District.

And she says this is no ordinary car show:

"It's in a very dense urban setting, with cute little boutiques and crafters.  Award-winning chefs are serving street food that day, mostly for under five dollars."

The cars start from about the 1930s.

"They come from all over the tri-state region," says Gilinger.   "They're fabulous.  All the guys are there to talk about the engines and all the love and the work they've put into them -- they have a lot of passion!"

And there's more.

"We have a whole kids' zone, a free moonbounce, circus performers, entertainment, arts and crafts.  We have a craft show up at the fountain.  Just come down.  It's a really fun day for the whole family, and you won't be disappointed.  There's live music -- you'll dance in the street.  You'll get to see great cars, and I think there's a little something for everybody at this."
