Popular Philly Cheesesteak Joint To Open Second Location

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Fresh off last year's name change, Joe's Steaks + Soda Shop has some more news.

The restaurant, which began as Chink's Steaks back in 1949, has announced plans for a second location, which is set to open in late summer or early fall at Frankford and Girard in Fishtown.

"I could not be more excited about opening in Fishtown," says owner Joe Groh, in a release. "It's been a big year for the restaurant – from the name change to new menu items – I wish we could open the doors tomorrow!"

The Fishtown digs will reportedly have room for 50 to 60 diners and will sport a custom grill in the front window, as well as an expanded pickle and pepper bar.

Groh says the original location on Torresdale Avenue will likely be closed Mondays and Tuesdays in order for him to split time between the two restaurants.
