Poll: Pa Voters Blame Budget Woes On Republican Lawmakers

HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) --- As Pennsylvania nears the end of its second month without a budget, a new Franklin and Marshall College Poll shows the legislature is getting more of the blame than the governor.

A budget bargaining session between Democrat Governor Wolf and legislative leaders scheduled for Wednesday was scrubbed because Wolf wants more time to review a Republican proposal.

Meantime, a new Franklin and Marshall College Poll shows 54% think lawmakers are more responsible for the lack of a budget, while only 29% blame the governor.

But F&M Poll Director Terry Madonna believes that could change. He says now many voters aren't feeling the effect of the budget stalemate, but, "long-term, if there's service cuts, curtailments – you know, conceivably that could happen in another month or so – then I think the governor would be on the hook."
