Poll: Fans Trust Kelly Over Brown, Just Barely

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- In two seasons as Philadelphia Eagles head coach, Chip Kelly is 20-12 (.625), not including a two-point NFC Divisional Playoff loss to the Saints in his first season. Brett Brown, still with 11 games remaining before he completes his second season as Sixers head coach, is 36-117 (.235).

Nevertheless, when asked which coach they trust the most, Philadelphia sports fans have trouble deciding between Kelly and Brown.

According to the 94WIP Mike & Ike Show's Audio Roadshow poll question on Thursday, fans trust Kelly slightly more than Brown, while Flyers head coach Craig Berube and Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg were no where near the aforementioned two coaches. Together, Brown and Kelly racked up approximately 95-percent of the votes, leaving Berube and Sandberg in the dust.

Kelly, who was given complete control over personnel decisions on January 2nd, has been scrutinized for his recent moves. After trading fan-favorites LeSean McCoy and Nick Foles, combined with not re-signing Jeremy Maclin, Kelly has all of the sudden become a polarizing sports figure.

While Sixers GM Sam Hinkie has constantly shaken up the roster over the past two years, Brown has continued to impress with limited talent. This season, rookie big man Nerlens Noel, who is top-10 in the NBA in steals and blocks, has a legitimate case at NBA Rookie Of The Year. Brown has worked with Noel closely, especially with his shooting. Before the All-Star break Noel was a 56-percent foul-shooter. After the All-Star break, Noel is shooting an impressive 68-percent from the charity strike.

Kelly and Brown continue to fight neck-and-neck for the majority of Philly's support. This is certainly a positive thing, as both franchise's look to be headed in the right direction. Unfortunately, we can't say the same about Berube and the Flyers nor Sandberg and the Phillies.
