PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A robbery in Northeast Philadelphia ended with a man shot and a woman's purse stolen. One suspect is in custody.
Police say a couple ran for their lives after they were approached by two robbers early Thursday morning. Once they ran, they were shot at.
One of the suspects is in custody at Northeast Detectives thanks to quick police work.
The shooting happened near the intersection of Frankford and Cheltenham Avenues just after 1 a.m.
The victims, a 24-year-old man and his 28-year-old girlfriend, say they were walking when a car pulled up and two men inside announced a robbery. The couple ran toward Wissinoming Park and that's when they heard three gunshots. One of those hit the 24-year-old in the shoulder. He's listed in stable condition at Aria-Torresdale Hospital.
The woman dropped her purse.
Responding officers saw a man on the same block, riding a bike with a green purse under his arm.
"They grab him and he's positively identified by the 24-year-old shooting victim as one of the perpetrators, but not the shooter," Philadelphia police chief inspector Scott Small said.
The woman confirmed that is her purse.
Police are now searching for the trigger man.
