Police: Man Robs Walnut Street Bank Location On Wednesday Morning

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police and the FBI are looking for a suspect they say robbed a Republic Bank branch on Wednesday morning. The branch is located at 1601 Walnut Street.

Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating the man.

Authorities say that around 10:00 a.m., the man entered the bank and handed a note to the teller demanding money.

Police say the man was given an unknown amount of money before leaving the bank on foot. They add that he was last seen heading south on Walnut Street.

Police describe the man as a white male between 30 and 40 years-old, 5'9" with a thin build. Authorities say that he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, silver shorts, a green Eagles cap and sunglasses.

They also add that the man had a bluish-gray backpack with black and green trim.

Police add that the subject is armed and dangerous and urge anyone with information to call the FBI at 215-418-4000 of to call the Philadelphia Police.

Officials add that there may be a reward for information that leads to the subject's capture.
