Reward Now $5,000 For Man Being Sought For Shooting At Camden Police Officer

CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) -- Authorities in Camden County have identified a suspect they say shot a police officer Wednesday night. And a reward is being offered for information that leads to his arrest.
Local authorities and the US Marshals Service are offering a reward, now increased to $5,000, for information regarding the whereabouts of 21-year-old Victor Bennett, of Camden.
The Camden County Police Department says Bennett opened fire on the officer's vehicle as he drove past them on Kenwood Avenue about 11:30pm Wendesday night.
Officer Prince Reed was hit in the arm by a bullet fragment and, despite searching for the shooter while injured, investigators say Bennett was able to get away.
Camden County Police deputy chief Joseph Wysocki says Bennett opened fire on the patrol car without provocation.
"It was 100 percent without a doubt that Victor Bennett knew that he was shooting at a police officer," Wysocki told KYW Newsradio today. "Officer Reed was shot once in the left forearm, and his vehicle was shot several times."
Anyone with information on where Victor Bennett may be should contact authorities at 856-757-7042. He has several distinctive facial tattoos but authorities warn anyone seeing him not to approach him.
