Driver Fires Shot At Another Car During Blue Route Road Rage Incident

CONSHOHOCKEN Pa. (CBS) -- Pennsylvania State Police are looking into a road rage incident that occurred on Thursday afternoon on the Blue Route in West Conshohocken, Montgomery County.

Officers were sent to I-476 North at mile marker 16.1 responding to a shooting.

Police say that a driver fired at another car and fled the scene. Officials say the shot went through the passenger door of the other car.

Police say that shortly before 3:00 p.m., a man, driving a dark blue/midnight blue Lincoln Towncar (early 2000's model) with tinted windows, fired at and hit a blue Mitsubishi Lancer traveling north on the Blue Route in West Conshocken. Officials add that the Lincoln symbol on the car was silver and had a red backdrop.

Authorities say the driver of the Lancer, a 26-year-old male, was the only person in the car at the time of the shooting and he was not injured.

Officials say the driver of the Lincoln was last seen heading northbound on I-476 towards Exit 16. The Lancer was being towed by police.

Officials say the suspected weapon was a chrome semi-automatic handgun. They add that the vehicle has a possible unknown PA registration.

Police describe the suspect as a man between the ages of 40 and 50-years-old and wearing a dark-colored, flat-brim baseball cap.

Sources confirmed to Eyewitness News that this was indeed a road rage incident and that the bullet fired was lodged in the center console of the Lancer.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Investigation Unit at 215-452-5216.
