Teen Gunman Barricades Himself In North Philly House

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police say nine people were taken from a home following a barricade situation Sunday night in the Poplar section of North Philadelphia.

This began on the 900 block of North 11th Street. Police say undercover officers responded to shots being fired in that area, then chased the suspect inside the home at that location, which wasn't even his house. A barricade was declared around 8:30 p.m.

Within an hour, the barricade was lifted after helicopters and the SWAT team arrived and everyone inside was brought out of the house one by one.

A 16-year-old man was identified as the shooter and taken into police custody along with eight other people who voluntarily left the home.

No injuries were reported

The shooter has been charged. Police say the others were taken in just for questioning at this time, as an investigation continues.
