Police: Man Wanted For Shooting Ex-Girlfriend's 12-Year-Old Son

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- According to Philadelphia Police, a 12-year-old boy is in stable condition after a shooting early Sunday morning in Port Richmond. Authorities have identified the suspect in the shooting as Jamille Carter.

Crews responded to the incident around 2:30 a.m. The young boy was found inside a residence on the 3500 block of Janney Street and was suffering from a gunshot wound to the thigh.

Police say that the shooting started as a domestic dispute between the child's mother and Carter, her ex-boyfriend. Authorities say that the 12-year-old was asleep when he heard fighting coming from the first floor of the home and went downstairs in response to it.

Authorities say that the boy was struck in the leg and returned upstairs to discover blood coming from his upper leg.

The 12-year-old was transported to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.

Police add that Carter, 23, previously resided on the 1200 block of N. 28th Street and is known to frequent West Philadelphia. Authorities say that Carter is 5'10", 170 lbs and was last seen wearing all black clothing.
