Planned Parenthood Celebrates 43rd Anniversary Of Roe V. Wade

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A rally was held on Broad Street Friday afternoon on the 43rd anniversary of Roe vs. Wade.

Dayle Steinberg, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood, says the goal of the annual rally is to bring attention to Roe vs. Wade and women's health.

"Jane Rowe was Norma McCorvey in Texas who brought a case against the state of Texas to be able to have access to abortion services."

Women's rights attorney Gloria Allred gave a personal account of how she almost died from an illegal abortion.

"I remember one nurse coming around to me and saying, 'This will teach you a lesson.' I'm actually not sure what lesson she was talking about since I didn't choose to be raped or become pregnant."

Meanwhile, one protester stood nearby holding a sign.

"Because the unborn matter. I hope people consider that when they make very difficult, hard decisions."
