Plane Evacuated At PHL, Fire Dept. Called To Investigate Reported Smoke

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Passengers of an American Airlines' American Eagle plane were evacuated before taking off from Philadelphia International Airport Sunday afternoon so crews could investigate reports of smoke.

A PHL spokesperson says the plane had backed away from the gate and was on the taxi-way ready to depart from Philadelphia to Cincinnati when there was a report of smoke.

Officials say workers and Philadelphia Fire Department inspected the plane and found nothing.

Passengers were evacuated as a precaution with plans to re-board them.

One passenger posted photos of the incident on Twitter and Instagram.
