Plan On Planting Trees

By Phran Novelli

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A lot of us will be planting trees this year, not only because so many trees got damaged this winter, but also because planting trees is one of the easiest ways to increase your property value and curb appeal; keep your home cooler in the summer and lower energy bills; and reduce flooding since trees drink up so much of the water that falls as rain and snow.

As part of an effort to Plant One Million Trees in our area, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society is holding "Tree Tenders" courses this spring in Philadelphia, Chester and Montgomery counties, where you can get hands-on experience from experts in tree planting and care.

You'll learn a lot for just $25 during the three, 3-hour classes. To register and get all the dates and details, go to PennHort.net so you can start planning on planting some trees.

If you can't take the class right now, you can find links to a lot of good information and videos at PHSOnline.org.
