Pizza Deliveryman Identified in Police-Involved Shooting

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police say an unarmed pizza deliveryman was shot and critically wounded by two plainclothes Philadelphia police officers as he finished making a delivery Tuesday night on a West Philadelphia street.
Investigators say the two officers, announcing they were police, approached 20-year-old Phil Holland near 50th and Willows Avenue to question him after receiving a report of gunshots in the area.

Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey says it appears Holland either didn't hear, or didn't believe the officers, racing off in his car apparently thinking they were robbers.
Police say the officers, who was almost run down but not hurt, fired ten shots into the car, striking Holland three times.

"This is a good young man and I just pray he is able to overcome his injuries," stated Commissioner Ramsey.
The Commissioner added that Holland apparently works two other jobs in addition to being a pizza deliveryman.

Both officers have been temporarily removed from street duty which is standard procedure while shootings are investigated.
District Attorney Seth Williams says this shooting, as is the case with all police shootings, will be investigated by his office.
