Philly's Going To Look Very Green For The Eagles
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Meaningful football is set to get underway September 7th at 1:00 p.m. when the Jacksonville Jaguars head north to take on the Eagles. The city of Philadelphia will be taking on a greenish hue throughout the week as the game approaches.
You may have noticed a giant Eagles helmet in the river as you went for your morning run along Kelly Drive on Friday. The teams' cheerleaders, along with Swoop, launched a giant inflatable helmet that will take up shot directly across from Boat House Row. The barge will be decorated with lights to allow fans to appreciate night views of the giant helmet.
The helmet was the first of many aspects to Eagles "Back to Football" Week. The helmet will be in place until September 16th.
The Eagles also know a large grouping of fans will not be in Philadelphia this holiday weekend, so they are taking the celebration to the shore. Four Eagles themed sand sculptures will be built over the course of the weekend while members of the Eagles organization and the cheerleaders hand out prizes to shore goers.
The first sculpture was built on Friday in Stone Harbor, NJ. On Saturday, there will be one built in Ocean City, NJ (8th Street) and in Wildwood, NJ (Mariner's Landing on the boardwalk). On Sunday, there will be one built in Sea Isle, NJ (JFK Boulevard Beach). These are set for each day from 2-3 p.m.
Starting next Wednesday, six Eagles player cut outs will adorn the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Set to take to the steps are cutouts of Nick Foles, LeSean McCoy, DeMeco Ryans, Jason Peters, Mychal Kendricks and Fletcher Cox.
Fans can now also see street pole banners aligning several of the city streets including South Broad Street, JFK Boulevard, Market East and South Street.
If you aren't already excited enough for the Eagles opener, all of these things should help.
