Philly Soccer Show: Union Making Late Playoff Push
By Greg Orlandini
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Philadelphia Union are in touching distance of a playoff spot, and the KYW Philly Soccer Show is here to sort it all out. KYW's Greg Orlandini and Philly Soccer Page writer Eli Pearlman-Storch talk with Union play-by-play man JP Dellacamera and get his perspective on the team.
The Union have been riding high since Jim Curtin has taken over as interim manager from John Hackworth, with a 9-2-3 record in MLS and Open Cup play. They are in a three-way tie for fourth place in the East.
Dellacamera says the 1-0 win by the Union on Wednesday at home against Toronto FC was a little harder than he expected. He also talks about the resurgent play of forward Andrew Wenger, who has come into form since Curtin came in as coach.
Then, Kevin Kinkead from CBS3 and Soccer.ly joins in the discussion. The gang talks about the Union's game on Saturday, again, against Toronto FC -- this time in Canada. Toronto is in turmoil, having just fired their head coach, Ryan Nelsen, and his entire staff.
