Philly Soccer Show: Early Season Struggles For Union
By Greg Orlandini
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It hasn't been smooth sailing for the Philadelphia Union so far this season, and the KYW Philly Soccer Show tries to get to the heart of the issue. KYW's Greg Orlandini is joined by his co-host Philly Soccer Page writer Eli Pearlman-Storch and PSP columnist Adam Cann.
The team is boasting a woefully 1-5-3 in the Eastern Conference, sitting second to last in the standings. The Union struggled mightily in their last match, a 4-1 loss at Columbus Crew last Saturday. Greg, Eli and Adam try to break down some of the problems on the pitch.
The team possesses the ball at a rate of 43.7 %, last in MLS. They also have the worst passing rating in the league at 71.75%. They have given up 17 goals so far which is, you guessed it, last in MLS.
For a further look at some of the numbers, check out this article by CBS3's Kevin Kinkead.
