Popular Philly Pastor Among 'DIVAS' Performing At HIV/AIDS Fundraiser

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - More than a dozen "divas" will take the stage at the Dell Music Center Saturday night to raise money and awareness about HIV and AIDs.

Among them: a popular Philadelphia pastor.

Reverend Dr. Alyn Waller is no stranger to the stage or to singing.

"I'm on to be the gospel artist," the Enon Tabernacle Church pastor tells KYW Newsradio.

He recently released a gospel project and will now perform as special guest for "DIVAS Simply Singing" -- a concert put on by actress and activist Sheryl Lee Ralph's DIVA Foundation.

The goal: raise money and awareness for HIV/AIDS, mental health and other life-threatening diseases -- issues, Waller says, are front and center at his church:

"Even though there are areas where the church has fumbled the ball, we still have major impact in the community, so for that reason, we have to get involved."

Enon has tested thousands for HIV and AIDs over the years, so when Ralph asked Waller to take the stage, he readily agreed. He'll perform for about 15 minutes.

"It's an honor," he says. "Sister Sheryl and I have ministries that are aligned. Happy to do it."

DIVAS slated to perform include Keke Wyatt, Tweet, Avery Sunshine and more. To purchase tickets for the Saturday evening event, click here.
