Some 200 lucky fans celebrated the achievement at a luncheon at Citizens Bank Park where Thome was guest of honor.

Thome played for the Phillies from 2003 into 2005, and returned for a year in 2012. He recalls it was the right decision to leave the Cleveland Indians and come to Philadelphia:

"I just wish during my time we were able to win a World Series, but they were able to do that, you know, shortly after I left, which was still special for me to watch."

The Phillies won the World Series in 2008.
