Phillies To Test Out Use Of Metal Detectors At Citizens Bank Park
PHILADELPHIA, PA (CBS) -- The Phillies will be taking part in a mandated metal detector pilot program beginning July 21st at Citizens Bank Park. The measures are a part of Major League Baseball's partnering with the Department of Homeland Security. The league is interested in standardizing security measures across all Major League parks.
By the start of the 2015 season, all teams will be required to screen every fan that enters their ballpark.
When the program begins at Citizens Bank Park, all fans entering through the right field gate will have to pass through metal detectors prior to having their tickets scanned. All cell phones, cameras and metal related devices will be removed before the scanning.
Screening procedures will begin at Citizens Bank Park on July 21st.
