Philadelphia weather: Storms clear out after dropping heavy rain across region
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The storms that dropped heavy rain across our region Thursday night into Friday have moved out to sea, with no major reports of damage, despite a tornado warning in southern Delaware.
The heaviest rain largely missed our region, perhaps a blessing after we saw dangerous flooding in some spots earlier this week.
Now we have a cold front heading through that will make for a comfortable summer day with lower humidity and temperatures in the mid 80s through the weekend.
We are keeping an eye on whether the sun will heat up the ground and air enough to create fuel for more storms to develop at the Jersey Shore, particularly the northern shore points, after 4 p.m.
This could be the nicest weekend this summer, Meteorologist Kate Bilo reports.
There may be some clouds Saturday morning, but then we're in store sunshine and comfortable, less humid air.
