Mostly sunny, breezy and much cooler in Philadelphia this Saturday

Temperatures fall in Philadelphia region as clocks fall back; unseasonably warm Election Day ahead

The Philadelphia region will have perfect autumn weekend weather with sunny skies and cool temperatures in the low 60s, quite a difference from the low 80s the past few days.

It'll be pleasant for apple or pumpkin picking but the region is still in a period of drought after a record 34 full days without rain.

Drought conditions, dry weather lead to wildfire risks across Philadelphia region

Grab an extra blanket for Saturday night as clear skies will allow temperatures tumble to the 30s around the area with the city hovering on either side of 40 degrees.

Don't forget to turn your clocks back 1 hour. Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday. We may enjoy that extra hour of sleep but the sun will be setting much earlier too. Our sunrise Sunday is at 6:32 a.m. and our sunset is at 4:55.

If you're headed to Happy Valley for the Penn State — Ohio State college football game at noon on Saturday, expect some seasonable and crisp football weather with kickoff temperatures in the upper 40s and a good deal of sunshine.

Sunday will be another cool and sunny day with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s. The weather looks perfect for the Eagles as they host Jacksonville at the Linc. Kickoff will be sunny and 58 degrees.

Beginning Monday temperatures will rebound to the upper 60s with partly cloudy skies.

On Tuesday, Election Day, we will be partly sunny and unseasonably warm in the upper 70s, possibly challenging our record high of 80.

Wednesday will be warmest day of the week near 80 degrees, nearly 20 degrees above average.

Our region remains in a record dry spell after showers Friday did not leave measurable rain at the Philadelphia International Airport monitoring station.

Another weak front crosses the region on Thursday and just like the past 4 fronts it will likely fizzle out and leave us dry.

Friday, temperatures drop to the 60s under mostly sunny skies.

The NEXT Weather team is watching a more organized system next weekend that has a better chance to bring us some showers. Stay tuned for updates.
