Philadelphia Weather: Amtrak, SEPTA, PATCO, NJ Transit Announce Cancellations And Modifications For Winter Storm

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Planning on traveling by train from Sunday afternoon into Monday morning? Amtrak has already canceled some services in our region so be sure to check your train status. SEPTA Regional Rail and New Jersey Transit have also announced modifications to their schedules. PATCO will run on a normal schedule.

New Jersey Weather: Gov. Murphy Declares State Of Emergency For New Jersey Ahead Of Winter Storm 

AMTRAK

Amtrak announced the Keystone and Pennsylvanian Service Lines will operate on a modified scheduled Sunday and Monday.

Service between Philadelphia and Harrisburg is temporarily suspended.

The Pennsylvanian Service Train 43 has been canceled on Sunday March 3 with no alternate transportation.

Pennsylvania Train Service 42 will be canceled on Monday March 4 with no alternate transportation.

Philadelphia Weather: What Types Of Precipitation To Expect During Winter Storm

The Keystone Service Trains 605, 609, 647, 651, 639, 642, 646, 656, and 620 are canceled on Monday March 4 with no alternate transportation.

The Northeast Corridor service between Boston and Washington, D.C. and points south will continue to operate as scheduled.

Anyone planning to travel should check their train status on Amtrak.com or on the smartphone apps prior to departing, allow extra time to get to the station and be extremely careful in stations and on platforms.

PennDOT, Pa. Turnpike Announce Commercial Vehicle Restrictions 

Customers with reservations on trains that are being modified will typically be accommodated on trains with similar departure times or another day. Amtrak will gladly waive additional charges for customers looking to change their reservation during the modified schedule by calling the reservation center at 800-USA-RAIL.

SEPTA

SEPTA will operate Regional Rail on an enhanced Saturday schedule for Monday, March 4. For schedule details, please visit the Winter Weather section of SEPTA's website at http://septa.org/service/winter/ before heading out.

PATCO

PATCO will run on a normal schedule Monday. Originally, a snow schedule was announced but PATCO now says a normal weekday schedule is in place.

NJ TRANSIT

NJ TRANSIT will offer full systemwide cross-honoring for the entire service day on Monday, March 4, enabling customers to use their ticket or pass on an alternate travel mode—rail, light rail or bus—including private bus carriers.

The River Line is running on a normal schedule.

Customers are advised of the following:

  • Systemwide:  NJ TRANSIT plans to operate regular weekday service on Monday, March 4 with systemwide cross-honoring in effect.  Depending on the impact of the storm, NJ TRANSIT may need to modify service as conditions change.
  • Bus Service:  While every effort will be made to continue operating bus service throughout the state, customers may experience delays or detours on their routes in the event of extreme winter weather conditions.  Customers are advised to plan accordingly and anticipate disruptions to bus service.  Bus service to/from Warwick, N.Y., will originate/terminate at West Milford Park & Ride due to weather conditions.  Bus 196 will operate on a snow detour and will not operate on Skyline Drive.
  • Access Link Service: Service for Regions 2, 4, 5 and 6 will be suspended as of 9 p.m. Sunday, March 3.  On Monday, March 4, service in Regions 4, 5 and 6 will have a delayed start at 12 p.m. Region 2 service will operate on a regular weekday schedule on March 4.
