Warm with low humidity across Philadelphia region Wednesday, showers possible for 4th of July
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Expect more gorgeous weather in and around Philadelphia on Wednesday with seasonably mild temperatures, plenty of sun mixed with a few clouds and very low humidity, especially for this time of year.
Highs will be in the upper 80s Wednesday with feels-like temperatures to match. Expect some morning clouds, but skies clear for a mostly sunny day.
Fourth of July forecast
Things change significantly Thursday as showers and storms are possible for the Fourth of July holiday.
The heat and humidity will be ramping up and storms are likely to develop mainly during the afternoon and evening.
At this point, don't cancel any Fourth of July plans, but definitely keep an eye on the sky and have those backup plans in place for when/if a storm passes over your event.
More heat, humidity and storms
That pattern of heat, humidity and afternoon storms will continue through the weekend with highs in the low 90s, morning lows in the 70s and shower or storm chances every day. As of now, it looks as though Saturday may be the most active and Sunday the least, but we'll keep you posted.
There will be a slight reduction in humidity Saturday, but it's still hot.
Hurricane Beryl path update
In the tropics, Hurricane Beryl remains a dangerous Category 4 storm with sustained winds exceeding 150 mph.
All eyes are on Jamaica as Beryl is expected to have major impacts on the country in the form of damaging winds, flooding rain and high storm surges, especially in the southern part of the country. The storm is poised to make landfall around 1 p.m. Wednesday, and could remain a Category 3 storm as it continues toward the Cayman Islands tonight into Thursday.
Keep it close to CBS Philadelphia as we continue to monitor the tropics and local forecast for the upcoming holiday and holiday weekend.
