Philadelphia Union Ready For Saturday Visit From Vancouver
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It will be the final MLS challenge for the Philadelphia Union before the World Cup break on Saturday as they welcome the Vancouver Whitecaps to Chester.
The Union picked up three points last time out as they blanked Chivas USA on the road 3-0 last weekend. That game saw Conor Casey return to the scoring column as the veteran forward netted his first two goals of the season.
The victory improved Philadelphia to 3-7-5 this season, and on Saturday, they will face a Vancouver team that is playing very good soccer, sitting at 5-2-5 for the season. The Whitecaps are coming off a 4-3 win in Portland last time out.
Last season, these two teams met on July 27th in Vancouver, the Union grabbing a 1-0 victory on the strength of an 85th minute goal from Antoine Hoppenot.
Philadelphia leads the all-time series between these two clubs 2-1-1.
KYW's Matt Leon talked about the Union with both their TV color commentator Peter Pappas and Kevin Kinkead, who covers the Union for soccerly.com.
