Philadelphia Police Search For Suspect Who Escaped Overnight

By Tim Jimenez

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A man who was in the hospital, and in police custody, escaped overnight, and now authorities are trying to track him down.

After Khalil Robinson was arrested for DUI and narcotics at 65th and Woodland around 10 at night, he was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital.

A few hours later, police say a couple of 12th district officers were relieving the prisoner detail and one officer went to make sure the 24-year-old was handcuffed. But, investigators say he sprung out of bed and ran out of the room. There was a chase, around the nurse's station and out the hospital doors, according to police.

Authorities say Robinson ran off into a park and officers lost him around the area of the 3800 block of Warren Street.

Police now ask for the public's help as they try to find Robinson.

Anyone with information is asked to call 9-1-1 or Southwest Detectives.
