Phila. Police Release Video Of Car They Say Is Connected To Robbery, Shooting Of Elderly Woman
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia Police have released video of a car driven by a man believed to be connected to the New Year's Eve day robbery and shooting of an elderly woman in the Mayfair section of the city.
Northeast Detectives released video clips from cameras at homes and businesses in the neighborhood of a light-colored 4-door sedan driven by a man they say robbed and shot a 75-year-old woman, taking her purse containing $400 as she was walking home with groceries.
Lt. Dennis Rosenbaum says the victim was walking through a rear driveway to her home when she was approached by the man. Rosenbaum says when she refused to turn over her purse, the driver pulled the woman into the car.
"During the course of that struggle a shot's fired. Where she's shot directly in the face - nothing life-threatening. And, then she continues on her way even though her glasses are broken and she heads down to her house."
Police found her within minutes and took her to the hospital.
Edie Ritchie, says her mother is now home and recovering.
"Our main concern is pretty much get him off the street because the next person might not be as lucky."
