Philadelphia Police Officer Makes Heroic Rescue In Logan

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Philadelphia police officer is being praised for jumping into action and rescuing an unconscious man from a burning car.
It happened in the Logan section of the city.
Around midnight, police say a 47-year-old man in a Dodge Charger lost control and hit the median at Broad and Wyoming, and then slammed into two parked cars.
Soon, a 39th District officer driving by saw the car was on fire and a man was unconscious inside.
Chief Inspector Scott Small says the officer pulled the man out before the situation became even more dangerous.
"The vehicle was completely engulfed in flames after the officer was able to get the driver of the car out of the vehicle."
He is stable after suffering a concussion, cuts and bruises.
Police say had the officer not been around the consequences could have been worse, possibly fatal.
