Philadelphia roofer and artist team up to paint the city red with Phillies pride

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Philadelphia roofer and artist are teaming up to paint the city red this Red October as the Phillies look to reach their second straight World Series.

In Port Richmond, Phillies pride is screaming from the rooftops, and it's thanks to ST Roofing owner Scott Tisdale and Philadelphia artist PJ Villot.

Nearly a decade ago, Tisdale started putting his ST Roofing trademark on the projects he did. Fast-forward and Tisdale linked up with Villot. Soon, bird's eye view murals were popping up across Philadelphia.

"You got to stick out somewhere in Philly," Tisdale said, "and Philly needs some love so what better way to do it than this way?"

This Red October, Villot went all in on the Phillies.

Artist PJ Villot perfecting the Phillies logo.

"I have to look at the logo just to get the lettering right," Villot said, "but everything else, I freehanded."

A piece on Belgrade Street -- from the city skyline to the Phillies' logo and, of course, "Dancing on My Own" -- took him about an hour and a half to do. He's done others too, like the Phillie Phanatic.

"We work really hard on a daily basis," Villot said. "It's actually a blessing that it's actually getting recognized and people are actually seeing what we're doing."

Tisdale said if you get a roof from him, the art comes free.

Villot also does commissioned pieces.

"If we win, it's going to be crazy," Tisdale said. "We can all be dancing on Broad Street, Cottman, all that."

And if the Phillies do win, Tisdale and Villot have another rooftop and a new piece all ready to go.

The duo also just wrapped up one more design Tuesday afternoon.

Villot painted the "Grease the Poles" inspired graffiti art at a customer's house right off 5th Street.
