Philadelphia Orchestra Opens Its Arms To Musicians Of All Skill Levels

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Amateur and professional flute musicians played side by side at Verizon Hall for the Philadelphia Orchestra's annual Play In.

More than 100 flute players young and old took to the stage to perform various pieces of music.

"To play with a lot of people it's a great experience," said Makeda Wubayeh.

Wubayeh is a seventh grader who is used to playing with just one other person at her school.

"I got to play with professionals, it was amazing."

Philadelphia Orchestra first chair flutist Jeffrey Khaner says this kind of performance is a special treat for the professionals and amateurs alike.

"It's rare that you see so many all together playing at once like that. It's great, it's a really fun experience," said Khaner.
