Philadelphia Orchestra Celebrates John Williams' Music

By RJ McKay

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Orchestra kicks off a two week celebration of John Williams' music April 28 with guest conductor Stéphane Denève.

Vice President of Artistic Planning, Jeremy Rothman, gives an overview of the event led by Denève.

"He's here for two weeks, but both weeks are focusing on the music of John Williams. The first week he's presented Yo-Yo Ma with John Williams' cello concerto and then the final weekend, more music by John Williams, his violin concerto with the incredible violinist, James Ehnes. And that program capped off on the second half with Beethoven's 7th symphony."

Rothman gives more details about a special program.

"On May 4th, John Williams himself will be here to share the podium with Stephane Deneve to lead an incredible, special event of his film scores with some film clips and some wonderful interview material."
