Philadelphia Man Charged In Last Week's Fatal Stabbing of Girlfriend in Logan
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police have arrested and charged a Philadelphia man with murdering a 28-year-old woman.
Last Wednesday morning, police responded to the 4900 block of North Warnock Street for reports of a person screaming. When they arrived at the scene, officers found a female, later identified as Brittany Green, suffering from multiple stab wounds to the neck. She was pronounced dead a short time later.
Then, yesterday, police arrested 28-year-old Gerrell Hall and charged him with Green's murder.
Capt. James Clark of the Philadelphia Police Department's homicide unit says the release to the news media of Hall's picture and his distinctive facial tattoos aided in his capture.
"He tried to, at 1 o'clock in the morning, check into an area hotel in the center city area. They recognized who he was. He then left there and went to a shelter in the area of 12th and Race. Police were called and arrested him without incident."
It's alleged that Hall stabbed Green to death, then took their three children -- ages six, eight, and ten (who were in the home at the time) to his mother's house. He then disappeared until his arrest.
Police say Green was a victim of domestic violence.
The children are being cared for by family members.
