Philadelphia Man Admits Involvement In Drug Ring
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — A Philadelphia man has admitted his role in a major southern New Jersey drug distribution network.
Thirty-three-year-old Christian Serrano pleaded guilty Monday to conspiracy to distribute cocaine. New Jersey authorities will recommend that he get a seven-year state prison term when he's sentenced Aug. 29.
Serrano is the 23rd defendant to plead guilty to charges stemming from "Operation Jumpstart," which targeted the Camden-based drug network. The ring's leader, 35-year-old Luis Burgos of Camden, pleaded guilty last June to racketeering and was sentenced to 10 years in state prison.
Authorities say Burgos had large quantities of cocaine flown on commercial airline flights from Puerto Rico to New York and Newark. The drugs were then distributed in the Camden area.
