Philadelphia Eagles trade edge rusher Haason Reddick to New York Jets

Philadelphia Eagles' Haason Reddick brings joy to kids in Camden

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Eagles are trading All-Pro edge rusher Haason Reddick to the New York Jets, according to CBS Sports. Philadelphia will receive a conditional draft pick in 2026 in exchange for Reddick.

According to CBS Sports Lead NFL Insider Jonathan Jones, the pick is currently a third-round selection but could become a second-round pick if the former Eagle plays 67.5% of the defensive snaps in 2024 and has 10-plus sacks.

Reddick is entering the final year of his three-year $45 million contract he signed with the Eagles back in May 2022. The Camden native posted a career-high 16 sacks and five forced fumbles in his first season with the Birds and then in 2023 earned 11 sacks and one forced fumble.

The former Eagle also made the Pro Bowl in his two seasons with the Birds.

Reddick is set to make a base salary of $14.25 million and has a $21.8 million cap charge for the 2024 season, according to the CBS Sports.

The 29-year-old edge rusher took to social media back in February to address trading rumors.

Reddick posted on X that he never requested a trade after a previous report from the NFL Network came out saying the Eagles permitted the 29-year-old to seek a trade.

"Never asked for a trade. However, I do understand it's a business," Reddick posted. "Preparing for whatever is next!"

Reddick, who starred at Temple University, told CBS Sports before the 2023 season he was "hopeful" to get a new contract with the Eagles and wanted to "represent my city for the rest of my career."

The former Eagle has not yet commented on the trade.
