Philadelphia Business Community Sets Five-Year Agenda For Regional Growth

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce today launched a project to boost economic growth throughout the area.

The "Roadmap for Growth for Philadelphia: 2015-2020" campaign will be tailored around the city's most recent demographic and economic trends.   Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Rob Wonderling says the next step will be a series of public meetings throughout the city to gather ideas on how to create new, high-quality job opportunities.

"We've actually identified an initial group of about a hundred grassroots organizations that we are inviting along in this process," Wonderling tells KYW Newsradio.  "And so, we want to hear from Philadelphians.  We want to hear from people from around the world on how we can develop a growth strategy for this city."

The roadmap plan also includes a mayoral debate, to be held before the May 2015 primary, to find out where the candidates stand.

A final report from the Chamber of Commerce will include a so-called "Must Do" agenda for the city's next mayor and City Council.
