Philadelphia Area Can Claim A Piece Of Spieth's Green Jacket

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Masters Tournament on CBS was one of the best of all time thanks to the 21-year-old champion, Jordan Spieth. Spieth declared that a win at Augusta was his life dream when he was 12-years-old.

Spieth was the wire-to-wire leader as he tied Tiger Woods' Masters scoring record of 18-under par. However, Spieth's 18-under beats Woods' 18-under because after Woods did it, the committee "Tiger-proofed," the golf course by making it longer and more difficult.

The 21-year-old displayed the blue-collar toughness that sports fans in this area admire and there's a reason for that. His grandfather, Donald Spieth, is from Bethlehem, Pa. Spieth's rhythmic putting stroke may be a DNA leak from his grandfather who is the long-time conductor of the Lehigh Valley Chamber Orchestra.

Spieth's parents, Shawn and Chris Spieth, were raised in the Lehigh Valley and graduated from Saucon Valley High School.

The Spieth family is all about sports. Spieth was named after Michael Jordan. His dad played college basketball at Lehigh University and his mom played basketball at Moravian College. We have a champion to cheer.
