Phila. Group Heads To Harrisburg To Demand Increase In Minimum Wage

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A group from Philadelphia will be in Harrisburg today to demand an increase in the minimum wage.
They're attending a senate Labor and Industry committee meeting and hope their voices are heard.
"$7.25 is not enough!"
It's been 10 years since there was a minimum wage vote in Harrisburg. Surrounding states like New Jersey and Delaware have raised wages.
Restaurant Opportunities Centers United lead organizer Sam Jones says it's time for the Keystone State to catch up.
"We've been fighting for an increase to at least $10.10 an hour and total elimination of the tip minimum wage in Pennsylvania, which is $2.83 an hour."
Shelia is a restaurant worker who says a higher rate would especially help empower women to speak up when they encounter creepy customers.
"Tolerating however you're treated, however you're talked to, however you're touched because that's how you get your income."
