14-Year-Old Being Questioned In Fatal Overbrook Dog Walking Shooting

By Jan Carabeo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - There are new developments in the murder investigation of the man who was gunned down last week while walking his dog in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia.

Police now have a 14-year-old in custody who is being questioned in connection with this case. Detectives and crime scene units were also searching for clues in connection with this case overnight at a home at 65th and Girard Avenue.

Fifty-one-year-old James Stuhlman was gunned down last Thursday. Police have been working this case non-stop since then.

Investigators say the motive appears to be robbery and the attack was random. Stuhlman was out walking his dog around 8:30 p.m. when police say three suspects attacked him.

Investigators earlier this week spoke to Eyewitness News and said the trio had been stalking another dog walker, but then decided to go after him.

"This was, in fact, an attempted robbery," says Police Captain James Clark. "We believe it is by three black males wearing hoodies, all with backpacks.

Police say surveillance video played a big role in getting the 14-year-old suspect into custody.

Until all the suspects are caught, police are asking everyone in that Overbrook neighborhood to be on alert.
