Police: Person Of Interest In Custody In Chestnut Hill Home Invasion, Sex Assault

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police say a "person of interest" has been taken into custody and is being questioned in connection with a home invasion-robbery-sexual assault in Chestnut Hill over the weekend.

Investigators from the Special Victims Unit are handling the case and conducting the questioning.

Police declined to further identify the person or say when he was brought in.

Authorities say the incident happened in the first block of East Chestnut Hill Avenue about 4 a.m. Saturday.

Police say an armed man broke into the home, startled a husband and wife in their bedroom, and then held a gun to the head of the husband while he sexually assaulted the woman.

Investigators say when the man put down the gun for a moment, the wife picked it up and pointed it at him and tried to shoot but the weapon didn't fire.

The intruder then ran out of the home, but took the couple's wallets and cell phones and drove off in their new car.
