Pennsylvania's Casino Revenue From Table Games Up in 2013

HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) -- Despite another year-to-year increase in table games action, overall revenue at Pennsylvania's casinos was down slightly in 2013.

Earlier this month, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board announced that slots revenue was down 3½ percent from 2012 to 2013 (see related story).

Now, the board says that while table games were up more than six percent last year over the previous year, that wasn't enough to keep Pennsylvania casinos from posting their first year-to-year decline in combined revenue.

Gross revenue from tables and slots dropped 1.4 percent.  PGCB spokesman Doug Harbach says one reason the table games market continues to grow in Pennsylvania is that competition is not as keen.

"Slot machines are especially competitive.  For example, there are racetrack casinos in Ohio that offer slot machines and no table games," he said today.

Despite the decline, combined gross revenue in Pennsylvania casinos topped $3 billion for the third straight year.
