Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary Choir Practicing For Arrival Of Pope Francis

By Justin Udo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The Choir at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Montgomery County is getting ready to perform for Pope Francis when he comes to Philadelphia.

The choir, which is made up of about 40 seminarians, is planning on singing at least two songs to Pope Francis when he arrives at Saint Charles, the place where he'll be staying while he's in town.

"What we are really preparing for, in essence, is to show the Pope who and what we are," says Saint Charles' Director of Sacred Music Rudolph Lucente. "This is one of the prestigious seminaries in the United States."

Lucente says the choir is thrilled to have the opportunity to sing for the Pope.

"Music is something that not only supports the worship and prayer life of the seminary, it brings the seminarians together as well," he says.

Pope Francis is scheduled to arrive in Philadelphia for the World Meeting of Families on Saturday, September 26th.
