Pair Sentenced In Deadly Atlantic City Shooting
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — Two southern New Jersey men have received lengthy prison terms for the roles in the fatal shooting of another man two years ago.
Atlantic County prosecutors say Casey Robinson received a 25-year state prison sentence on Friday, while Michael Rivera received a 20-year term. Both had pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter in the May 2012 shooting death of Joshua Hopewell, a 26-year-old Atlantic City resident.
Authorities say Atlantic City police found Hopewell on North Rhode Island Avenue with gunshot wounds to the head and torso. He was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later.
Robinson and Rivera were arrested the same day Hopewell was shot. They initially were charged with murder, weapons offenses and other counts.
A motive for the shooting has not been disclosed.
