Paint Company Provides Materials and Labor To Spruce Up a Phila. Community Center

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- An important gathering place for boys and girls in the city's Bridesburg section has been given a makeover.

It took less than three hours for dozens of volunteers from national paint store chain Sherwin-Williams to add a fresh coat of blue and white paint to the walls of the Bridesburg Boys and Girls Club.

"We did all the interior hallways, the front gym, the back gym, and we also did the exterior," says Bridesburg native Anthony DiSalvo, who pitched in.

Boys and Girls Clubs program officer Jerry Houck says the project was greatly needed for a building that caters to kids from 7am until well into the evening.

"We get a lot of use here -- it's a lot of upkeep," Houck said.

Coordinators sayt this pro bono job would have cost $10,000.
