One Night Showing Of 'Fed Up' Documentary In Bucks County
By Brad Segall
NEWTOWN, Pa. (CBS) --- A controversial documentary dealing with one of this year's hot button issues, the obesity epidemic, will have an exclusive showing for one night only in Bucks County this week.
The producers of "Fed Up" bill the movie as the film the food industry doesn't want you to see.
Medical professionals in Bucks County say the film has a compelling message designed to get people to look at food labels and how much sugar they consume and make better choices when they go shopping.
"Children are being bombarded by literally thousands and thousands of commercials for all these sugary things, and hopefully they can see this message in a different light," said Doctor Roger Saias, a health and wellness practitioner at Wellness Solutions Center.
He says increased sugar consumption leads to high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and possibly diabetes.
The film will be shown Tuesday night at the Newtown Theater. A portion of the proceeds will be given to the Lower Bucks YMCA Youth Health and Fitness Program.
