One Dead, Two Seriously Injured In Delaware Crash

NEWARK, Del. (CBS) -- One woman is dead and two other people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Delaware.

The accident happened around 1:15 a.m. Sunday along Pulaski Highway near Brookmont Drive, south of Newark.

State police say the driver of a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder was speeding and failed to stop for a red light, and struck a 2013 Nissan Altima.

The front seat passenger of the Nissan Altima, 22-year-old Alexis DeFrancesco, was rushed to Christiana Hospital Trauma Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Police say the driver of that vehicle, 18-year-old Alec Clark, and the driver of the Pathfinder, who was not initially identified, were both taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Investigators say neither driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

This crash remains under investigation, but police say charges are expected.
