Officials Launch Campaign To Bring Tourists To Bucks County

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Tourism officials are hoping to attract visitors from the North Jersey-New York area to Bucks County this summer season and they're launching a marketing campaign this month to spread the message.
'Visit Bucks County' along with some of its co-op partners are spending nearly half a million dollars to try to convince residents in the New York metro area to spend their vacation dollars in suburban Philadelphia.
With gas prices high, they are hoping families will take the short car drive south to experience the museums, the castles, the wineries, covered bridges and, of course, Sesame Place.

"We're saying to them, hey you know what, take a break from the everyday life, the crazy city life. Come on down to Bucks County and spend some time in the countryside."
The campaign includes posters on NJ Transit and the Long Island Railroad, a wrapped double-decker bus in Times Square and lots of exposure on digital media outlets.
Year after year, Bencivengo says their website sees more hits coming from those areas.
