Officials Investigate 'Suspicious' Fatal Fire In South Philly
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Fire Marshall is investigating a fatal fire that happened late Thursday night in South Philadelphia that officials have deemed "suspicious."
The fire broke out just after 11 p.m. on the 2500 block of South Warnock Street.
Upon arrival, officials say crews found heavy smoke and fire in a dwelling. The victim was found in one of the bedrooms.
"This may be a suspicious fire because we have located multiple points of fire in the dwelling," Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Derrick Sawyer says. "
Crews placed the blaze under control in about 30 minutes.
The home did not have any working smoke detectors.
Officials are still working to determine the exact cause.
